Utah Fits All Scholarship: Everything You Need to Know
What is the Utah Fits All Scholarship?
The Utah Fits All Scholarship was created by the Utah legislature in 2023 to help families access flexible education options. Initially, the program was granted enough funding to provide approximately 5,000 scholarships. However, there was so much interest in the program that in February of 2024 the legislature doubled funding for the program, providing 10,000 scholarships for the 2024-2025 school year! The legislature also added an additional $40 million of additional funding in February of 2025. The scholarship is open to all Utah K-12 students, with priority given to families below certain income levels.
The program provides families with an education savings account (ESA) to customize their child’s education. These funds go into an account that parents can use for microschools, homeschool, educational therapies, private tutoring, private school, virtual school, part time schooling, and extra educational tools and supplies like books, computers and notebooks.
The program is currently managed by ACE Scholarships, who handles the scholarship application and awarding process. ACE has partnered with Class Wallet to distribute and manage scholarship funds. Due to recent legislation, a new program manager will be selected after ACE’s contract expires on May 16th, 2025.
How do I apply for the Utah Fits All Scholarship?
The application window for the 2025-2026 school year scholarship is March 3rd through May 1st. Parents can apply on the Utah Fits All Scholarship site. The process is simple and quick, requiring some basic details about families and students. Parents will need to provide a birth certificate, social security number, proof of identity, proof of residency documents, and documentation of household income for any applicable enrollment preference categories.
Enrollment Preference Categories
For the 2025-2026 school year, there are five enrollment preference categories:
- Eligible students who are currently awarded and using the UFA scholarship in the previous school year
- Eligible students whose family income is at 200% of the federal poverty level or less
- Eligible students who are siblings of an eligible student who either uses a scholarship account at the time the sibling applies or who used a scholarship in the school year immediately preceding the school year for which the sibling is applying
- Eligible students whose family income is between 200-555% of the federal poverty level
- All other eligible K-12 students
Once the application window closes, ACE Scholarships will process all the applications. Families will be notified within 30 days if they have been awarded a scholarship or placed on the waitlist.
How much funding will my student receive?
Students who receive the scholarship and use it for private school will receive $8,000.
Students ages 5-11 who receive the scholarship and use it to educate at home will receive $4,000.
Students ages 12-18 who receive the scholarship and use it to educate at home will receive $6,000.
You can then use these funds to pay for educational expenses (like a Prenda microschool 😉).
