Our model provides the structure to our research-based, holistic learning approach. Students begin their day with Connect, then Conquer, then Collaborate, and end with Create. Together, these modes were developed to empower students with the gift of learning how to learn.
This is an intentional time at the beginning of the day meant to foster a culture of connection, psychological safety, acceptance, and respect. Built around Prenda’s core values and empowerment principles (C.A.M.P.), they create a strong sense of community in our microschools, Guides, and students.
Using cutting-edge, state standard-aligned, online learning tools, students dive into their core subjects. Every learner is different, so we help curate a unique plan for each student. We use low-stress, diagnostic testing to locate learning gaps and get students working at their just-right level and pace.
During Collaborate Mode, students engage in inquiry-based research, debates, socratic discussions, experiments, service learning, and problem-solving experiences that help them become people who think deeply about the world around them and how they interact with others.
Create Mode is a time for exploration—filled with project-based activities in STEM, history, research, writing, science, performance arts, and mindset. Students create videos, reports, computer programs, gardens, posters, essays, dance routines, business storefronts, journals, paintings, dioramas, and more!
At Prenda, school doesn't happen to you. Here, kids take ownership of their education. The learner is the doer, the mover, the becomer. The empowerment principles (we often refer to them as C.A.M.P.) help kids look at learning through this lens. Skills within each of these principles are nurtured in Connect Mode and set students up for success in all other areas of their learning.
Awareness and empathy for self and others are tools you want in your toolbox to navigate school and life. Students develop and practice social-emotional skills through collaborative activities and thoughtfully-designed lessons.
Having the opportunity to choose and take ownership is empowering! Students pursue topics that interest them, set their own goals, and learn at their own pace. Guides support, monitor, and encourage kids as they dare greatly and learn how to learn.
Thanks to decades of research and this amazing concept called neuroplasticity, we know that intelligence is not fixed. Mastery is achieved through effort and productive struggle. Students learn to seek out challenges, navigate frustration, and grow.
Confidence is great. Confidence paired with a sense of purpose is even better. Guides nurture each student’s relationship with self and support them as they uncover who they want to be, what they want to learn, and how they plan on achieving their goals.
